For the single release of sunflower by YEW, I was responsible for the art direction and single cover design. The song explores themes of parting ways and preserving beautiful memories, expressing gratitude for the past while accepting that it is time to move on. The lyrics speak to holding someone close as a cherished memory that you never want to forget.
To capture this bittersweet narrative, I conceptualized a surreal digital collage. I designed a visual garden landscape scattered with disconnected objects like a vintage car, a tent, a chess set, and a blank canvas. This arrangement directly reflects the concept of a garden where time has turned the soil, leaving only scattered traces of a past relationship just beyond reach.
This visual approach provided YEW with a striking and conceptual identity for the track. The final artwork successfully translates the emotional weight of the song into an engaging digital landscape, offering listeners a visual representation of a mind filled with fading but precious memories.
